Sometime in February, I travelled for a much needed “mamas” getaway to Nice, France with my a fellow yummy mummy Kunbs (Onelifeandlipstick) I took with me two of my miniature LizEarle skincare products The Cleanse and Polish Cleanser and Moisturiser. I managed to convince Kunbs to try the products which she finally did, and on returning home she tweeted about the awesomeness of the cleanse and polish face wash. A few weeks later, I was sent some products to use and review on my blog from LizEarle.

Hello friends,

Long time no post!! I visited my website today and realised its been 4months since my last post.. Even though its been 4months, I am getting quite a lot of  daily visitors. Thanks to all my faithful readers I promise to do better and post more often. Most importantly, now that I am on maternity leave, I will have more time for blogging.

This post is a bit of an update really. As the title suggest, we are having a BABY! This isn’t news to a lot of people especially my friends, but to those that are new to the site, my husband and I are expecting our second Child. We are super excited for the new addition to our little family and for the blessings of a new child. Saying God is good to us is not enough to describe how awesome the Most High is. We are incredibly blessed and can not wait to welcome our new baby to the family.

Travelling with an Infant/Toddler

In-between starting a new Job, new company www.expatmumsinzurich.com (check it out if you haven’t already done so) and looking after a family, blogging have had to take a back seat for a while, forgive me please I promise to do better.

Now, get a cuppa, this is going to be a long post.

I know for a lot of parents, travelling with kids is something they would rather avoid if they can. But between working and living in two countries, travelling often is something we can’t avoid.
Last week’s flight marked our little darlings 35th flight in the space of 16 months. If there was an award for best behaved kid on a flight, my little darling would win it. Of course, travelling with and Infant/Toddler is never going to be stress free, but below are things we do to make our trips a lot quieter and a happy one for both parent and baby.
First of all, Companionship: I try not to travel alone with Chloé without my husband being there. But unfortunately, its not always possible and majority of the time I have had to do it on my own, it is always a lot more stressful but not impossible.

Sleep is important to kids! When we are planning a trip, we usually Plan our flight time around her bedtime/nap times. It is best to aim for just before your little one gets sleepy, so by the time we have boarded the flight, she is usually tired and ready to get back to sleep. I would already have a warm bottle of milk ready for her as soon as the plane takes off i feed her her warm milk and she goes straight back to sleep and she would usually sleep for the entire duration of the flight even sometimes until we pick up baggages. This rule also apply to nap times (afternoon flight) or bedtime (late evening flight). (bare in mind, this only works for short haul flights. For long haul flights, please follow the rest of my tips.

Car Seat/Stroller or Pram- Carseat and Pram can be checked in at the check in counter, but i prefer to have Chloé in her buggy until we get to the aircraft door where I am usually able to leave the buggy before boarding the plane. And at the check in desk, make sure to ask for the buggy to be delivered to aircraft door after landing. This really helps to reduce stress of having to carry baby and nappy-bag at the same time. To be able to do this, Most airline require your buggy to be a one piece buggy meaning (It should fold Into one). Our buggy the bugaboo bee is so light weight and folding it can be done within a second. so, if you are a frequent flyer, having a versatile pram makes a big difference. Continue reading

Beautiful skin starts from the inside. Eating well, Good sleep, Positive lifestyle! All this is true but you can’t solely rely on a good sleep for a perfect skin.

A bit of background on my skin. I have always prided myself in having a good skin, And this might be due to good genes (My mum’s skin Is Impeccable) Right from my teenage years, I never had Pimples, Blemishes or Acne. This was true until I fell after pregnant with Chloé. Continue reading

Our little Princess Chloé turned 1 a little over a week ago. And we had the pleasure of working with a party planning company CakesNCandles founded by one of my Close Friends Kunbi. They planned a fantastic shoot for our darling at our home, the props were all so beautiful.

Preparing for a Baby: Essentials things that you would need!

Its been quite a while, but please forgive me. So many things have happened since my last post and I have to admit, my blog has been neglected. Thanks to readers who checked in and requested a new blog post! So, here we go.

I will be sharing a few tips on essentials for first time parents expecting a new baby in the next few months, or parents planning for one.

I remember when we found out that we are having a baby, after getting over the initial shock of “oh gosh, we are going to be parents!”. I was so overwhelmed with thoughts on things I would need to get ready for baby. Its both exciting and expensive, I immediately hit the shops with a massive list. As new parents or parent-to-be, we can get carried away with the excitements of shopping for a little person, and the fact remains there are so many beautiful things out there that can be bought, but we don’t exactly need them all.

I will try and put together the things that I regard as “Essentials” and not a waste of money on the one side and the “not so Important” on the other. This is not meant to trigger an argument or an attack on the manufacturers. The latter groups are just items that I would consider as “nice to have”s. You will get by without them. Hope this helps someone.

Essentials – Nappies and Wipes

I have only ever used one diaper brand and that is Pampers. Comes in various different sizes. In my opinion, start with a newborn size 1 rather than a size 0. Its been almost a year now and my baby hasn’t ever experienced nappy rash or associated irritation. The new born nappies are great, because a blue line appears to let you know once the nappy is wet or needs changing. Stock up on nappies as baby needs changing up to 6 times a day.

My choice of wipes is also Pampers (Sensitive) wipes. Easy on delicate skin! Although, for the first 3 weeks or so, I purely used warm water and cotton wool on baby bottom as recommended In one of the antennal classes we attended!

Mummy and Me

This post is one that can be of use to all new Mummys.

If you are not a stay home all day type, this will no doubt be useful. Of course becoming a new mum is such a beautiful life experience, but it can be isolating and very tiring.
When I had my mini me seven months ago to be precise, I was surrounded by so many family and friends, had so much people in and out of our home.  It was abit tiring after having had a somewhat traumatic labour/ birthing experience but it was so nice and touching.

We had so much help around the house that I didn’t have to do much except breastfeed my baby and take naps while she sleeps too.

1 month went by so fast and the visits had gradually reduced, family members came and left, my husband went back to work after few weeks of paternity leave. I found myself left all alone with a tiny baby. Being a first time mum, it was quite scary.
After a couple of weeks, we settled into a routine. She has developed a nice sleeping pattern,  and things settle in the feeding front.

Not on my face!

Last weekend I attended a New Years party organised by one of my Girlfriends. She had hired a Make-up artist for a few of us ladies just before the party starts. It was finally my turn to get dolled up and then I realized how dirty the make-up artist’s brushes were! So I had to go…”Not on my face…”

I was beyond annoyed that this was happening to me for a second time. The first time was at another friend’s wedding, but thankfully I had my make-up brush set with me. However, unfortunately, I didn’t have them on me on this particular day.

Aren’t make-up artists meant to have clean sets of brushes with them ? After-all, no lady walks around with a couple of weeks’ make-up on their face without washing it off. for someone with a sensitive skin like mine, i can’t afford not to clean my makeup brushes regularly.
So, here are a few tips on How To Clean Your Make-up Brushes.
